In Loving Memory George Edwin Pryor Born into Time: August 27, 1948 Born into Eternity: May 19, 2024 ~ Celebrating the Life of ~ George Edwin Pryor George Edwin Pryor was born on August 27, 1948 in Mounds, Illinois. He was the youngest son born to the union of Rudolphus and Millard (Taylor) who both preceded him in death. George attended Douglass Elementary School and graduated from Douglass High School in 1966. He went on to college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas on a basketball scholarship. Later he returned to Illinois for a stint at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL before joining the Mounds Police Department as a police officer. George had a more than 40-year long career as a driver for several notable companies: Greyhound Lines, Brinks Security, and XOXO Tour Bus Company. He was well liked and well respected for both his personality and his work ethic. He was a superb storyteller who kept friends and family laughing with his great sense of humor and was known for his love of music and his sense of romance. George was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. George accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and became a Christian at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Mounds. Later in life, he was fond of visiting New Faith Baptist Church with his family. George stepped into the loving embrace of God early in the evening on May 19th after a valiant battle against cancer. Through his illness, he was dedicatedly and lovingly cared for by his brother, Jerry and other family members and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Brenda, his brothers John, Rudolphus, David, and Paul, and his beloved partner Ruth Kemp. George leaves to cherish his memory two sisters Sadie and Millard; one brother Jerry; two daughters Brigette and Candice, stepdaughter Gwen, and a loving host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and many valued friends.
