Sonia Shackleford was born November 13, 1960 to Sara and William C. Shackleford in Chicago, Illinois. She attended Horace Mann Elementary School and graduated from Lindblom Tech High School both in Chicago, Illinois. Sonia’s first job was at Baskin Clothing Store in the credit department. Her next job was at National Homecare after Baskin relocated the company out of state. She started out as a service coordinator and 35 years later, her last position was Office Coordinator. During her tenure, the company name changed to Addus Healthcare. Sonia was the ultimate fashionista and an avid reader. She wrote numerous stories and commentaries on FB that both helped and sometimes told you something you didn’t want to hear. She was always open and ready for dialog on a wide range of subjects. Ultimately her advice was always intended to inspire and motivate you to be the best in all situations. Since she was such a good judge of character, she knew how to balance any response with that wicked sense of humor she had. She also loved to entertain and cook. She collected Black Barbie dolls with a passion and other black dolls too, if they spoke to her. Black art was another of her passions, she believed in supporting those with talent and pushed them to pursue their dreams no matter how small. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sara and William C. Shackleford. She is survived by one brother, Roderick (Erica) Shackleford, nieces Breona and Bethanie Shackleford, cousins; Beverly Sanders, Deborah Gilliam, Karlton Pernell and Pat Simmons, Anton Dudley and Anthony Dudley, godbrother Brad Redrick and a host of friends
